Mudlogging Geologists work on remote onshore and offshore locations in Texas and Louisiana. Must be able to work with minimal supervision 12 hours per day monitoring drilling parameters and gas detection equipment, as well as describing cuttings.
Requirements
B.S. in Geology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Petroleum Engineering for new trainees or 1 year of mudlogging experience.
Candidates must be able to submit certification of their right to legally work in the United States.
Skills / Certificates
This is not your 9 to 5 office position. Mudloggers work 12 hour shifts at oil and gas drilling sites, onshore and offshore, manning field laboratories. Mudloggers collect with respect to depth, drill cuttings, and record all accumulations of hydrocarbons. Our mudloggers must be able to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, and stay alert for 12 hours at a time. Additionally, mudloggers need to have excellent communication skills, have excellent computer skills, and able to work away from home for two weeks at a time.
Remarks
Your geology degree will be put to use identifying lithology, making geological correlations and doing pore pressure analysis at the well site. Our business is offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, and at land drilling locations throughout Texas and Louisiana. Training is provided on the job with the use of manuals and by various one week classes at The Mudlogging Company’s office in Houston, Texas.
